2015 March 8 Field Trip to Mount Burdell

Doreen Smith led a hike to see the flowering species on the serpentine slopes of Mount Burdell on March 8, 2015.
At least 15 people took part and we saw 60 species in bloom, and the numbers might have been more in wetter years. Some of the species seen were Triphysaria versicolor ssp. faucibarbata (butter-and-eggs), Sanicula bipinnatifida (red-purple sanicle), Acmispon wrangelianus (Chilean bird’s-foot-trefoil), Delphinium variegatum (royal blue larkspur), Taraxia ovata (suncups), Erythranthe guttata (Mimulus guttatus) (seep-spring monkeyflower), Leptosiphon parviflorus (babystars), and Iris macrosiphon (ground iris).
